Hanwha Investment & Securities, a major brokerage in South Korea, has reportedly developed a tokenized securities platform on Avalanche (AVAX).

Key facts

Summary

According to a Sunday report from Seoul Economic Daily, Hanwha started building the platform in 2025 with blockchain technology firm FairSquare Lab. Hanwha's reported move lands months before South Korea's amendments take effect on Feb. 4, 2027, legally recognizing distributed ledgers as securities registers and folding security tokens into the existing capital markets system. Meanwhile, the Financial Services Commission, South Korea's top financial regulator, announced a three-stage implementation roadmap for the incoming securities token amendments. With the laws going into effect in February, the FSC will allow the tokenization of privately placed money market funds, bonds, unlisted stocks via a trust wrapper, as well as fractional investment securities.
